State Authorization

Out of state students should contact the college before registering for online courses in order to verify that Wilson Community College is authorized to deliver distance learning courses in the student’s state of residence.

Getting Started with Distance Learning

Is online learning right for you? Take the Online Learner Self-Assessment to find out if you are ready to take an online course.

Students can apply for admission online at CFNC.org.

Online Placement Testing is not currently available, however, students may take placement tests at any NC Community College and transfer the scores to Wilson Community College. Scores from the following tests may be accepted: SAT, ACT, Accuplacer, Asset, NCDAP, or Compass. Visit the Placement Testing page for more information.

Students should fill out the FAFSA application for Federal Financial Aid at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. After you have successfully submitted your FAFSA, you will need to follow up with the Wilson Community College Financial Aid office.

Contact your faculty advisor for advising and registration needs. If you are unsure who your current advisor is please refer to the Advising page or contact Admissions at 252-246-1281.

Students can pay for classes online through Student Planning opens new window at the Student Finance tab. You must have a credit card or PayPal account to pay online.

Online Orientation is offered for students that are unable to attend an orientation session on campus. The Online Orientation is offered through Moodle. Once you have registered for an upcoming semester, your account will be created in Moodle within 24 hours. Go to the Orientation page to sign up.

Getting Help

Enrollment Verification

Students must verify their enrollment in each course to avoid being dropped from a course. The type of course determines the method of enrollment verification that is acceptable. Please refer to the list below for acceptable enrollment verification for each type of course.

  • Online (NT) – Students must complete the Enrollment Verification Quiz in Moodle, by the census date, to verify enrollment.
  • Hybrid (HY) – Students in a hybrid course can either attend class by the census date, or complete the Enrollment Verification Quiz in Moodle, by the census date, to verify enrollment.
  • Hyflex (HF) – Students in a HyFlex course can either attend class (in-person or synchronously remote) by the census date, or complete the Enrollment Verification Quiz in Moodle, by the census date, to verify enrollment.
  • Blended (BL) – Students in a blended course can either attend class by the census date, or complete the Enrollment Verification Quiz in Moodle, by the census date, to verify enrollment.
  • Traditional seated courses – Students must attend class, by the census date, to verify enrollment.

Students that do not meet enrollment verification guidelines by the census date, will be dropped from the course.
