More Than a Job NC

More Than a Job NC is a grant-funded program operated by the Wilson County Department of Social Services (WCDSS) that supports individuals as they strive to achieve their educational and career goals. 

Partnering with Wilson Community College (WCC), eligible individuals can pursue various education pathways and workforce credentials for free. WCDSS and WCC work together to cover the tuition and fees, textbooks, uniforms, and more for all qualified participants.

Interested candidates must meet eligibility requirements and complete an application process in order to receive funding. Participation in the program is voluntary and can be declined at any time.

Eligibility Requirements:

Participants must:

  1. Be at least 16 years old, and 
  2. Live in Wilson County, and 
  3. Not currently receiving Work-First Assistance, and 
  4. Must be currently receiving or be eligible to receive FNS (commonly known a food stamps) benefits.

Note: Courses are subject to change and vary by semester.

More Than a Job NC does support certain curriculum programs (transfer programs excluded). However, special circumstances apply. Therefore, assistance will be considered case-by-case. Contact Megan Clemons, Education Navigator, at 252-246-1369 to discuss your needs.
